I open my eyes and the pain in my stomach immediately becomes evident.
Drinking two bottles of wine last night wasn't that great of an idea
but I felt I had to pass the time somehow whilst I skimmed Twitter, watching hundreds of people scream into the void about this year's GDQ
[[I rise from my bed, the bile in my stomach rising as I stand|Room]]My room looks like a tornado hit it, clothing strewn on the floor
the remnants of what was my alarm clock dumped in the middle of the clothes
some suspicious looking stains splattered in the carpet (blood? jam?)
thankfully my [[desk]] remains untouched
what had I done last night?I stumble over to my desk, clothes tangling around my feet like vines.
My eyes can't seem to focus, and my head pounds, the lingering effects of alcohol consumption still running through my body.
I can [[check my PC]] or [[leave the room]]
There is also a half-open [[drawer]] I can inspect.I turn on the monitor, having seemingly neglected to turn my PC off the night before.
Strangely enough, my internet connection is down. The screen remains frozen on tweets about the GDQ I remember browsing through last night.
I try refreshing, nothing happens.
I unplug the modem and re-try it. Nothing.
[[Perhaps I should just leave it|desk]]The hallway in my apartment is thankfully clean.
The [[kitchen]] faces to my left, whilst straight ahead lies the [[living room]]
Or I could go back to [[my room|desk]]I fully open the desk drawer, it mostly seems to be full of various magazines and print-outs.
A bronze key for the front door sits on top of it all.

]I shuffle my way into the small cubicle of a kitchen, lurching over to the kettle and flicking it on.
I need tea. I need it to wash down the taste of regret from last night.
[[I gather up the teabag and sugar, waiting for the kettle to finish|tea]]The early morning sunrise peeks through my closed curtains, slightly bathing the room in a dark orange glow.
I turn the TV on, sighing to myself as static flickers onto the screen.
I try the next channel.
[[I should probably be leaving now.|front door]]
[[Alternatively, I could go back and see if there's something I've missed.|leave the room]]I throw the teabag in the cup, pouring sugar in too.
The kettle hisses, reaching its boiling point. I pour in water, then milk.

]I step out into the street, my eyes blinded temporarily by the glowing sun.
I blink. That's no sun.
Across the street, the burnt-up shell of a car spews fire into the air like a fountain
My mind begins to race. *What the hell happened here?*
Before I can react in any way, a hoarse groan floats through the air.
Followed by the shuffling of feet.
Corpses. Walking corpses, shuffling and moaning, arms outstretched.
And I'm outnumbered.
[[I have a feeling today's going to be a very long day|Credits]]THE END.
